Two major street corridors in District 3 are slated for construction over the coming year. East Center Street from Mayo field to 11th Ave and Hwy 14 from Hwy 52 to Marion Rd.

East Center Street lies in the heart of District 3 and serves as a major access to and from down town Rochester. This week the City of Rochester held an open house displaying 4 concepts for the street redesign. Residents provided feedback and input on the designs. I visited with city staff who explained that all four designs preserve as many of the majestic old trees as possible along this corridor. Other prominent features include bike lanes, sidewalks, two way vehicular traffic and a round-about at the intersection of 11th Ave and Center Street by the Boys and Girls Club. Some designs include street parking, others not. Visit the city website for more details and to comment on designs.

MnDOT hosted a public info. session on Tuesday sharing details of the Hwy 14 project including resurfacing in 2025. Safety improvements to the intersection of Hwy 14 and Broadway are anticipated to begin in 2027. Visit MnDOT website for more information on Rochester Hwy 14 details.

Last weekend, I attended Plainview businesses’ first PRIDE event—it was packed and they plan to find larger venues next year.

I’ve been busy with the Community Health Needs Assessment team fine-tuning our next community survey which is to be released in October. The results of the survey help OMC, Mayo Clinic, Public Health and other organizations determine some of their community investments of time and funds over the next 3 years. I’ll include more details on how you can participate as that information is released.
